Day 14 – Pray for Pastors – 21 Days of Prayer

Our prayer focus for the next 24 hours is for Pastors.

A few months ago, a pastor named Craig Groeschel wrote a letter to new pastors to encourage them and also transparently share his perspective of what pastoring is all about.

Sadly, there have been increasing numbers of pastors quitting their jobs or even worst, ending their own lives. These are the people who are called to lead and equip God’s sons and daughters to live for Christ who unfortunately leave their posts.

As you read Pastor Craig’s letter in the image below, allow God to reveal the best way that you can effectively pray for your pastors.

Scripture:

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

‭‭~Ephesians‬ ‭4:11-13‬ ‭

“For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”

‭‭~Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Today, we pray for pastors. We thank you for placing Spiritual leaders into our lives. We will honor and support our pastors as they do their best to lead and equip Your sons and daughters to live for Christ. We understand that the war that we battle is not against flesh and blood but against powers that can only be destroyed in the Spirit realm. We bind the spirit of pride that comes from the enemy and we loose humility. For Your Word says that You oppose the proud and You give grace to the humble. We bind the spirit of depression and suicide. Lord, comfort the loved ones of the pastors who have tragically taken their own lives. Your Son has come that we may have life and life more abundantly— so we speak life in Jesus’ name. We pray that Godly counsel and more loyal friends will come into the lives of Your servant leaders. Lord, it’s a great honor and privilege to accept the call to be Your servant leader. As, we all continue to fight the good fight of faith we ask that You continue to fill us up with Your Sprit, for in Your presence is freedom and fullness of joy. We ask that You bless, sustain, and cover every pastor, their children and every person who supports them. May the ministries you’ve assigned to pastors continue to lead the lost to salvation in Christ and be a blessing to the communities they serve. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
