Day 13 – Pray for Love – 21 Days of Prayer

Today’s prayer focus is simply “Love”. Not just any kind of love or the mushy Hollywood love- we will pray for a Godly kind of love that covers a multitude of sins. The bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that three things will last forever and that’s faith, hope and love, but love is the greatest of these. It’s honest, sincere and it perseveres.

I’m sure many are familiar with this scripture but if you can, read the whole chapter (13). I’ve found that no matter how much I memorize scripture there’s always a new revelation that God will give when we read it again.

Let’s pray that God’s sons and daughters will continue to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the different levels of love for us to operate in and move us to walk in it.

Scripture:

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for loving us so much that You gave Your Son as a sacrifice in one of the most horrific ways. There’s no greater love than this. Your Word says that there’s no fear in love and that love covers a multitude of sins. So as we accept Jesus we accept Your love. Lord, help us to love like You. May we see Your sons and daughters the way You do, forgive, extend mercy, gently correct and long suffer the people You have assigned us to; our family, friends and associates. God we know that we are imperfect humans but we are so thankful that the Holy Spirit is always working in us to accomplish Your will for us to Love You and Love others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
